    Ingredients

labeled photo of ingredients for this s'mores protein shake.

Milk: Choose your favorite milk base. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I also love creamy oat milk for shakes when I can spare the extra calories.

Ice Cubes: Just enough to keep the shake frosty, we'll add a few ice cubes.

Protein Powder: We'll add a scoop of protein powder for the nutrient boost. I love this lightly-flavored vanilla protein powder for protein shakes and smoothies. Its subtle flavor doesn't compete with the other ingredients in your shake, and it's unsweetened. Read more about why I love it here: the best protein powder for smoothies and shakes.

Sweetener: I used granulated erythritol, but feel free to use your favorite sweetener here.

Cinnamon: We'll add a dash of cinnamon to give a hint of warmth and to boost the graham cracker flavor. I like Vietnamese cinnamon for the great flavor.

Graham Crackers: Needed for the signature S'mores flavor, we'll add graham crackers to the mix. Feel free to opt for gluten-free graham crackers; they're great here too. Omit them for a lower carb shake.

Keto (Sugar Free) Marshmallows: These sugar free marshmallows keep the carb count lower while maintaining the authentic S'mores flavor. I used the large marshmallows, but this brand also makes sugar free mini marshmallows.

Sugar Free Milk Chocolate: Again we're choosing a sugar free option to avoid extra carbs. I love these milk chocolate chips or these milk chocolate squares to give that milk chocolate flavor without the added sugar.

Salt: A pinch of salt enhances the overall flavor.

Xanthan Gum: Since this shake doesn't have frozen fruit ingredients, we're using xanthan gum for thickness.

    Equipment Needed

    • kitchen scale - recommended for accuracy and easier clean up
    • ¼ t measuring spoon for the xanthan gum
    • high speed blender - I love this high speed smoothie blender for protein shakes. Read why here: the best high-quality budget smoothie blender.

    Instructions

    1. Add the ice cubes to your blender cup, then add the milk and remaining ingredients.
    2. Blend for about 30 seconds to a minute, or until smooth and creamy, ensuring the marshmallows are well incorporated.
    3. Pour the shake into a tall glass or shaker (or drink right from the blender cup!).
    4. Garnish with additional graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips, or a toasted marshmallow for that authentic campfire flavor (optional).
    5. Enjoy your S'mores Protein Shake!

    Ingredient Substitutions

    • Try different milk options, like Fairlife dairy milk or your preferred milk alternative.
    • Experiment with different flavored protein powders for a unique twist. Chocolate whey protein would be great here, as would cinnamon flavored protein powder.
    • Use sugar-free chocolate syrup instead of chocolate chips.
    • Replace keto marshmallows with vegan marshmallows for a cruelty-free option.

    Recipe Variations

    • Turn this shake into frozen protein bites by freezing the mixture in a silicone mold.
    • Create Peanut Butter S'mores Smoothies by adding a tablespoon of peanut butter to the shake.
    • Add ¼ teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract to enhance the flavor further.
    • Turn this into ice cream with 30 g protein by adding the shake to an ice cream maker!

    Storage Info

This protein dessert shake is best enjoyed fresh. However, you can store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. I love these thermal tumblers for storing protein shakes in the fridge or to take them on the go.

    FAQ

What are the nutrition facts for this shake?

The full nutrition info is at the bottom of the recipe card below.

How can I lower the carbs in this shake?

The graham crackers have 24 g carbs, and those can be omitted for a lower carb shake. You might also enjoy these protein shake recipes for weight loss.

Can I add greek yogurt to this shake?

Please don't. Your shake won't taste like s'mores; it'll taste like yogurt. Don't do that to yourself.
