Hi, I'm Andréa! I love baking, coffee, and leg day. Baking with protein powder has helped me develop healthy habits and overcome disordered eating, and I love sharing the recipes I've created.
I started this blog back in 2013 after a bodybuilder friend introduced me to baking with protein powder. At the time, I was struggling to get enough protein in my diet and struggling to find a healthy food plan that worked for me.
While I had overcome my battle with bulimia (thank you 12 steps), I still hadn't found a food plan that was healthy, supported my love for working out, and that was sustainable for the long term. I found that with eating disorder recovery, all of the resources focused on the psychological aspect. But what was I supposed to eat?!
Baking with protein powder allowed me to create a food plan that I enjoyed and that supported the healthier habits I was developing. (For me, that is a macro-based meal plan.) But I couldn't find the kind of recipes I was looking for. So I created my own!
When I started this blog, I was a math professor and blogging in my free time. Since then, I left my tenured teaching position to make protein cake mixes full time. At first I was doing that under my own business, Andréa's Protein Cakery. When I realized that having a small business was not what I wanted for myself, I closed it. And soon after I started working with Proteinfull Baking on a line of protein cake mixes under their brand. It was a wonderful experience working with Proteinfull Baking, but now I'm excited to create recipes for you again.
In my free time, I love traveling, photography, and outdoor adventures. And of course spending time with my favorite people.

Hi Shawna,
Thanks so much for writing in! With the recipes posted here, I think it really depends on the particular brands of protein powder you choose. Some protein shake powders contain added supplements that would not be appropriate for children. The powders we use (and the mixes in our shop) are generally clean ingredients, but it would be best to check with your pediatrician if you have any concerns.
Thanks again for writing in!
Best,
Andréa

Andrea,
Once again you out did yourself this time with the Lemon protein Tartlets ! I'm telling you, sell them, write a cook book. Go on some of the food network shows, you'd be a big success and make a lot of money :) Once again, in the meantime I'll try everything !
