This Chocolate Hazelnut Protein Frosting has all the feels of Nutella with extra protein and none of the added sugar.

The frosting calls for just a small amount of chocolate rice protein powder, and this is to get the right consistency. Without it, the whey gets sticky and doesn't spoon like a real frosting.

The macros in the recipe below are for the whole recipe of frosting, a single serving of Chocolate Hazelnut Protein Frosting. Enjoy!

    Total Time 5 minutes mins
    Servings 1 serving

    Ingredients

    • 1 tablespoon hazelnut butter 15g (I make my own by putting some hazelnut meal in the food processor)
    • 2 tablespoons filtered water
    • ¼ cup natural chocolate whey protein powder 23g
    • 1 tablespoon natural chocolate rice protein powder 7g

    Instructions

    • Mix hazelnut butter and water until combined.
    • Add protein powders, and mix well.
    • Enjoy!

    Notes

A note about substitutions: you might try substituting casein for the whey, and in that case you might not need the rice protein (casein has a nicer frosting texture than whey).
Hazelnut butter can be made by processing hazelnuts in a food processor.
