I recently made myself a Double Chocolate Protein Cake using hazelnut butter instead of cashew, and WOW was it good! So good, I decided it needed a frosting and its own blog post. So here you have Chocolate Hazelnut Protein Cake with Chocolate Hazelnut Protein Frosting!
Oh, and have I mentioned the great macros here? No added sweeteners, so it is perfect for a night-time snack!
Since I wanted to slice and layer the cake, I baked it in a 4" springform pan lined with parchment paper. After baking, I sliced it lengthwise, and frosted it.
And like my other frostings, I strongly recommend enjoying this one as a snack on its own. In fact, I had some as I was getting ready to write this post. It was time for my evening snack, and I just couldn't resist.
The frosting calls for just a small amount of chocolate rice protein powder, and this is to get the right consistency. Without it, the whey gets sticky and doesn't spoon like a real frosting.
And yes, that's a shot glass. It was crying out for some attention, so now I have protein frosting shots. :)
I'm posting the recipe for just the frosting below, as the Chocolate Hazelnut Protein Cake is my Double Chocolate Protein Cake, only using hazelnut butter instead of cashew. To frost the cake as in the pictures above, DOUBLE the frosting recipe below. The macros for ¼ of the frosted cake are: Prot: 23 g, Carbs: 7 g, Fat: 8 g, Cal: 196.
The macros in the recipe below are for the whole recipe of frosting, a single serving of Chocolate Hazelnut Protein Frosting. Enjoy!
