These no-bake chocolate protein balls taste like fudge brownies, and make a delicious protein snack! The recipe is easy and perfect for meal prep (snack prep).

Ingredients

To make these healthy chocolate protein balls, we need:

  • ⅓ cup almond butter (85g)
  • 3 tablespoons water (45g)
  • ½ teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla (2g)
  • ¼ cup chocolate plant-based protein powder (28g)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (5g)
  • ½ tablespoon sweetener (6g) or to taste
  • pinch of salt

This protein ball recipe calls for plant-based protein powder (pea protein blend) for a soft, fluffy texture. I don't recommend substituting other types of protein powder in this recipe.

Other nut butters would work in place of the almond butter (although it may not taste like fudge brownies with other nut butters).

I used a monkfruit-erythritol blend as the sweetener. If you choose a liquid sweetener like maple syrup or agave, start with only 2 tablespoons water and add the liquid sweetener with the vanilla and water.

How to make delicious chocolate protein balls

Step 1: Mix together the almond butter, water, and vanilla.

Step 2: Add protein powder, cocoa, sweetener, and salt.

Step 7: Portion into 8 pieces, and roll each into a ball. And enjoy!

Important Notes

This recipe only works with plant-based protein powder (pea protein or pea protein blend). Using whey or collagen would be a sticky mess.
